Digicon provided a wide range of software and hardware support for a client within NIH. Our technical services team supported their needs in conducting grants administration, technical research issues, programs for engineering services, and various other technical and administrative functions.
Problem
Members of our client's committee needed a centralized and branded location to post announcements, share meeting schedules, provide access to documents and gather information in the form of survey responses and suggestions. The developed site needed to include a home page that posts recent announcements and upcoming calendar events. Other sections of the site needed to include:
- A Calendar allowing users to create and share events.
- A Document Library for managing and sharing committee-related documents.
- User-defined surveys allowing a polling of users with customizable survey options.
- A Picture Library allowing the sharing of photos from committee events.
Action
The project was delivered using out-of-the-box MOSS functionality, which was customized. Customizations included views of event calendars, document management, surveys, and group tagging of photos for easier search capabilities.
Result
The development team provided a fully functional MOSS site to the users, giving them a centralized location to post and share information on committee events and to gather information from members and participants. Where previously all collaboration, announcements and information gathering was done via e-mail, now the committee has a single location familiar to all where information can be posted once and referenced when needed. This has saved the committee significant effort and reduced the number of e-mail messages to a manageable level.
