Audio-Visual / Telecommunications Engineer

We are currently in search for an Audio-Visual / Telecommunications Engineer to work at our client site in Washington, D.C. 

The Audio-Visual Telecommunications Engineer will provide support in two areas: Audio Video Services and Telephony services.  Issues and support will include but not be limited to the following:

  • For Audio Video services the incumbent will provide A/V services which include, but are not limited to, audio conferencing, videoconferencing, presentation and conference room technical setup, coordination and logistical support processes as specifically directed by the Contracting Officer’s Technical Representative (“COTR”). This position involves proactive and professional interaction with the customer and the incumbent should be able to work in a rapidly changing environment. Excellent Customer Service is a MUST Incumbent should have 3-5 years of experience using AV equipment: Mixers boards, Microphones, Media equipment and Video conferencing equipment (Polycom environment).  Should be able to troubleshoot basic connectivity and hardware issues, integrate the use of laptops and projectors in a videoconference.  Should be experienced in Microsoft office applications in correlation with media presentations and presentation conference support.

  • For Telephony Services the incumbent will provide an array of support to include, but not limited to, managing and having knowledge of LAN including LAN characteristics, physical and logical typologies, Ethernet (Thicknet 10Base-T, 100BASE-T, and Token Ring) LAN cabling systems and a working knowledge of the LAN OSI model.  Incumbent will work with CFTC Telecom Manager and Sr. NE to maintain a close liaison with the telephone companies used throughout the communication network with regard to proper operation, installation, and maintenance of lines, data phone equipment and associated terminals. The incumbent will assist in programming of all soft key features to user’s lines to ensure quality and effective phone service and all wireless lines of service for the CFTC, to include issuing Blackberry’s to users.  The incumbent will work with the Sr. NE in being the point of contact for all issues related to desktop telephones, moves adds and changes (MAC) and have experience in Communication Manager Software (Avaya site administration software)  The incumbent will serve as a point of contact in troubleshooting hardware/software issues related to CFTC blackberries.  The incumbent will assist the Sr. NE with the scheduling and management of vendor contractors when they are performing system maintenance, up-grades, and installations and perform quality assurance tests on all vendor installs and maintenance.  The incumbent should be able to provide some feedback in hardware or software product analysis and recommendations for future product acquisitions to enhance the services provided.

Skill Set Summary:

Audio-Visual:

  • 2-3 Years Audio-Visual experience supporting high visibility meetings
  • Superior/Excellent Customer Service in Federal Government work environment, Communicate with Senior Staff personnel

Telecommunications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or other related discipline, or equivalent experience on the job training serving as a site administrator required.  Helpful certifications or the ability to obtain: Polycom CVE, Network+, or Avaya Site Administration (ASA) certification.

Certification and Accreditation (C&A) Specialist

We are currently in search for a Certification and Accreditation (C&A) Specialist to work at our client site in Bethesda, MD.  This is a full-time employee position with Digicon Corporation.

This position will work under the direction of the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) focusing on the certification and accreditation (C&A) activities.  The NHGRI ISSO works in the Information Technology Branch (ITB) under the direction of the NHGRI Chief Information Officer (CIO).

Position Description:

  • Conduct certification and accreditation (C&A) activities to include, but not limited to: 
  • Work with system/application owners, developers, and other appropriate staff to do and document data/system/application data categorization using NIST SP 800-60
  • Work with system/application owners, developers, and other appropriate staff to conduct and document periodic security assessments using NIST SP 800-53 controls and NIST SP 800-53A methodology
  • Work with system/application owners, developers, and other appropriate staff to conduct and document periodic risk assessments
  • Work with system/application owners, developers, and other appropriate staff to develop and document security plans
  • Work with system/application owners, developers, and other appropriate staff to conduct plan, test, and document security test and evaluations (ST&Es)
  • Work with system/application owners, developers, and other appropriate staff to develop contingency/disaster recovery plans and assist in the coordination of the contingency/disaster recovery plan tests

Database Administrator (Microsoft SQL and Oracle)

We are currently in search for a Microsoft SQL/Oracle DBA for a position based at our Corporate Headquarters in Herndon, VA and surrounding client sites.

Position Description:
Digicon Corporation is looking for a strong DBA to support our clients Microsoft SQL and Oracle implementations, in the DC metro area. The Production Support DBA responsible for monitoring and operational databases and associated systems. It consists of working with application developers to document and implement data models, hardware/software configurations for intranet applications and executing production scripts. The DBA is responsible for implementing effective use of database replication and security. They ensure availability and are responsible for database monitoring, performance tuning, installation and configuration, back-up and recovery, and capacity planning.

Position Requirements:
3-5 years experience as DBA on MS SQL Server and/or Oracle

  • Experience with Windows 2000, 2005 administration including clustering
  • Knowledge related to computer hardware including networks and storage devices
  • Ability to understand large data models quickly
  • Experience in replication
  • Knowledge of database architectures
  • Must have experience in both OLTP databases and OLAP
  • Knowledge of Transact-SQL (T-SQL), Stored Procedures and Views

Helpdesk/Desktop Support Technician

We are currently in search for a Helpdesk/Desktop Support Technician to work at our client site in Kansas City, MO. This is a full-time employee position with Digicon Corporation.

Position Description:

The contractor shall provide desktop support for the Commission’s Kansas City office. This work shall include, but not be limited to, taking calls from users, providing technical advice, performing problem analysis/detection/resolution, and providing general system and software user support. The typical users supported by the Customer Support Centers (CSC) operate in the MS Windows XP and Vista operating environments. Software in use is primarily COTS packages such as: MS Office, MS Outlook and Internet Explorer. The contractor shall also support CFTC specific systems, which have been primarily developed using COTS (i.e., PowerBuilder / .Net) software.

  • Repair of PCs and peripheral equipment and maintenance of software
  • Tracking and documentation of all reported problems and service requests
  • Follow up with a weekly survey of customers (e.g., telephone, email, web-based and/or paper-based surveys)
  • Troubleshooting/correcting user problems with hardware and software
  • Installation of new equipment and preparation of old equipment for surplus
  • Analysis of trouble calls, which includes determination of trends and developing proactive solutions to preclude proliferation of the problem trend
  • Physical inventory IT asset management
  • Installation/configuration of hardware and software to include desktop computers, monitors, scanners, printers, and laptops
  • Development of standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Assistance in the development of standardized reports and reporting procedures
  • Conduct of feasibility studies and needs analyses of new hardware and software

Mainframe System Programmer

Digicon Corporation, established in 1985, is a full-service Information Technology Integrator and Provider servicing Network Engineering and Software Development to both government and commercial customers. We are currently in search for a Mainframe System Programmer for a position based out of our Baltimore City local government location in Baltimore, Maryland. 

Position Description: 

  • Install, evaluate configure and maintain IBM system/390 mainframe operating systems and a variety of other vendor software  programs, analyze and evaluate computer mainframe equipment and work with various vendors on acquisitions.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software problems; advise computer programming, system analysis and data processing operation staff on proper procedures and correcting problems, monitor the operation of equipment and systems and develop and implement software modifications and design changes. 

  • Develop disaster recovery plans, perform file transfer; troubleshoot and problem solve mainframe issues; performance monitoring of mainframe; performs capacity planning and performance tuning of the mainframe; develops, implement and documents complex operating procedures; on-call 24x7;administers security procedures on the mainframe.

  • Sets up and maintains user accounts and passwords, monitors violations and produces security reports. 

Requirements: 

  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of systems programming; computer operating systems, software and computer equipment; computer languages and language applications; the interrelationships of systems analysis, computer programming and data processing operations. 

  • VM/ESA; TCPIP for VSE; RCSC; DITTO; Netview, VTAM; CICS, COBOL, CMS SORT.  Must be able to install, configure and maintain Disk Space, Tale Library, Security 9DYNAM/D; DYNAM/T; ALERT/POWER; Familiar with PDF prof and Queue Direct.

Network Administrator

Digicon Corporation, a dynamic IT services provider, is searching for an enthusiastic and aspiring individual to join our team as a Network Administrator. The candidate must have a willingness to work onsite in Washington DC. 

Under general direction the candidate should provide network acquisition, installation, and maintenance support.  May also provide network diagnostics and problem resolution; security services including security system evaluation and implementation; network virus protection and application support; and system-wide policy and procedures for hardware and software installation and maintenance.  May also provide planning and design functions for systems or applications providing local and remote network administration.

Candidate will perform system administration for the local LAN (Windows 2008/Vista).  Installing, configuring, trouble-shooting, diagnosing and resolving issues with Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Windows 2008/2003 Server and Active Directory. Support WAN MS Exchange domain.  Performing COTS patching and system upgrades, providing Call Center support using FootPrints software or equivalent. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite tools. 

 Required Skills:

  • 4+ years Windows experience (2008/2003/Vista/XP preferred). 2+ years experience managing Active Directory, Windows Vista/XP, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft Outlook

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other related discipline

  • MCSE preferred, CCNA a plus

SMS/SCCM Administrator

We are currently in search for SMS/SCCM Administrator to work at our client site in Ft. Belvoir, VA.  This is a full-time employee position with Digicon Corporation.

Duties of Position:
This position will provide a wide-range of duties.  Primary responsibilities include Level 3 Desktop support (image making and support) and SCCM administration.  Additional duties include assisting the server team with various administration tasks. 

The SMS/SCCM Administrator will assist in the design, implementation and support of a DOD agency’s desktop environment, which includes Windows XP and Vista laptops.  Candidate will respond to support issues in a timely manner, communicating issue status to internal customers and management, troubleshooting and resolving issues within SLA.   Identify research, diagnose and escalate (as needed) problems such as defects, conflicts, errors, and inconsistencies in systems functions.  Continually research, evaluate and provide documented recommendations for new technologies and tools within the Information Technology field.  Interface with other Information Technology teams from a network, operating system, or hardware standpoint as well as participation on project teams.

Mandatory Skills Required:

  • Candidate must possess a minimum of 6 years prior experience working with 1,000's of users in an environment consisting of  Windows 2003 Server, SMS, GPO, security policies, scripting, Active Directory.
  • Experience preparing laptop images using third party utility such as Microsoft Deployment Toolkit or other comparable product.  Prior rollout experience with XP/Vista machines is required. 
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team setting as well as independently with minimal error and guidance.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate with all levels of associates in the organization.
  • Sense of urgency and commitment to providing the best support possible to both internal and external clients.

Desired Skills:

  • Understand DOD mandates for workstation security including: the distribution of IAVA security software and distribution, Federal Desktop Core Configuration (FDCC), and GoldDisk.
  • Familiarity with Windows Installer and WMI.
  • An understanding of networking concepts and technologies including: Ethernet, TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP are required.

Education/Training/Certifications Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience is required.
  • MCSA or MCDST or Microsoft Certified System Engineer certification preferred or MCSA or MCDST.
